A school of possibilities.
Badi means school. Project Badi brings immersive learning to STEM and STEAM: science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Its purpose is to help learners connect what they notice to what they can explain.
A device you already have and a sheet of paper can become an invitation to investigate. The experience should be easy to start and useful enough to lead to a better question.
What you can explore today.
Three working experiences illustrate the solar system, a carbon atom, and DNA. Each offers a camera-free 3D preview, camera AR with the printable card, selectable details, and guided investigations. These are educational illustrations; their scientific limitations are explained openly.
The Classes 1–12 curriculum map is a developing roadmap for Indian classrooms. Available and planned entries are distinguished. More experiences are being developed; a planned topic has no working simulation yet.
The card anchors the experience.
The free Badi Explorer Card has a high-contrast tracking symbol. When the camera sees the flat marker, the browser estimates its position and orientation and aligns the 3D model with it. Turn the card to change your view of the model.
The result is an augmented image on your screen, not a physical hologram projected into the room. Current tracking uses the printed flat card; bare-hand and multi-face cube tracking are future possibilities. The shared card works across the available experiences and is not a private access credential.
Built to make beginning easier.
No app-store installation, headset, or special toy is required. The 3D viewer and camera tracker download when you choose to open an experience, keeping the initial site lightweight. Previously cached pages and opened assets can support repeat and offline use, subject to your browser retaining them.
All current experiences are free. Accounts and paid access are not implemented. Camera frames are processed on the device; read the privacy policy for analytics, hosting, and storage details.
Created with a learning purpose.
Project Badi is created by Sai Gattupalli, PhD, with a PhD in Learning Technology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Read about the project’s educational purpose and the invitation to research inquiries.
Educators and creators can help shape future questions and experiences. The contact form prepares a copyable note locally; it does not send messages. Proposed models should include their source, licence, learning goal, and known limitations.
